So I have to do a powerpoint project for my one class. It is on the Health Care Reform. In my group, my specific topic is insurance. Is health care the same as health insurance?
I live in Minnesota and have health benefits through my employer. Recently, they changed to a new company but we were not notified that this occured until about 2 weeks into the new year. Does anyone know the laws regarding how long an employer must notify you before switching companies and health insurance plans? My situation is as follows:

I have been asked to be be examined by a civil surgeon as part of my green card process. And I was wondering, can my Group Health insuranbce cover this expense? Any similar experiences may help. Thanks!

Secondly we need not some $8000 cap, we need 0$ cap, that is the end to tax subsidies of health care. Once health care plans are no longer tax deductible, the employers will abandon group plans, and give you the cash instead. You will have to buy you insurance in individual market.

I'm looking for a service that will make it easier and more attractive to have independent contractors work for me. a while back I actually found a site that will deduct taxes for them and even offered a group health insurance plan. If anyone has a lead on such a service I would appreciate the help.

I have a Blue Cross Blue Shield of GA HMO Group policy.
I recently began my first teaching job and the district offers group health insurance. We have one little boy and are trying to plan for our next child but are not sure what would be considered pre-existing, etc. I had a gap in enrollment because I was in school prior to my job and with money being tight I was not previously covered by other insurance. If I were to become pregnant after my coverage under the group plan began would is still be covered since I did not have prior coverage or do I have a waiting period? My health plan booklet does not explain anything regarding this.
I received a comment regarding my knowledge of the word pre-existing. I do know what that word means and am not looking for insults regarding my intelligence level. Its plain and simple that insurance companies tend to follow rules of their own regardless of what the traditional meaning of things are. Therefore, from what I had been told by a colleague is that because I had a lapse in coverage my group insurance may not cover my pregnancy if it happened in a certain time frame. I am seeking the opinion of others to find out more. Being a first year teacher I do not have a lot of extra time on my hands to call the insurance company and sit on the phone for an hour and be transferred around so I wanted to see what I could find out on my own first.
We read all these reports that tell an aggregated story. I'm curious to understand the trends behind the story. Are these situations more prevelant in some states than others? How have the rates of increases in things like low health insurance rates been changing over the past decade? Are there specific ethinic groups that are increasingly pre-disposed to exhibit low participation in health care programs or educational performance with a downward trend?
I have an individual policy with Blue Cross and Blue Shield. When I first obtained the policy (after a switch in employment), I was given a book showing all of the doctors covered under my policy. I was happy to see that my thearapist was one of them and continued my thearpy with her. After the first session I receieved a letter from BCBS stating that my coverage did not include mental health issues (since I had only an individual policy and not a group policy) so they would not cover my bills. After extensive complaints and appeals they admitted that they sent me the wrong book for my policy which had stated that this doctor was covered by them and I was basically out of luck and ended up having to pay the bill myself. Can an insurance company really deny you mental health coverage? Isn't this a form of discrimination? I can't even see the doctor for depression without them denying my claim. What is wrong with this picture?
