AARP is an organization for people over the age of 55, and was founded, in part, to try to protect the rights of seniors. There is nothing dishonest or shady about them. A lot of wrongly informed seniors bailed out of AARP last summer because of the lies being told by conservatives. Their loss.

Okay, first, the AARP is not a lobbying group for doctors. They represent the over-50 population. The AMA represents doctors. Both organizations support the house version of health care reform.

When you write, "scam," if you're asking if special interests are represented – yes. But more people will be covered and fewer will be denied because of pre-existing conditions so, like all laws, it's a trade-off. On balance, better with it than without it, I suspect.

There are a lot of seniors dropping their AARP memberships because of their support.

I think reformists are padding the pockets of AARP execs and AMA execs as well.

Because AARP, which looks after the interests of older Americans, understands the importance of changing our health care system. It is BROKEN, whether you choose to believe that or not. Try being old or sick and go shopping for insurance. It's a f*cking joke and something needs to be done to protect the interests of our citizens.
